New print “Escape” available at Spoke Art Gallery

I’ve teamed up with Ken Harman from Hi-Fructose and Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco and we are just about to release a new print run. My latest painting Dream Escape was recently unveiled at Spacejunk Gallery in Lyon, France and we decided it is worthy of a print run here in the states. This new print “Escape” is 18″x 24″ limited edition of 100 on heavy archival paper and will be on sale through Spoke Art starting Feb 24th, 2012.

I just got back from an inspiring few days in CO where I was invited to paint live at the Rossignol booth at the SnowSports Industries American, SIA. We were promoting my new snowboard the Diva 2013,

and also raised money for POW, ( http://protectourwinters.org) Protect Our Winters who’s mission is to unite and actively engage the global snow sports community to lead the fight against climate change.

If you were the highest bidder you just got an incredible deal on an original piece of art and you also donated to a great cause, thank you and thanks to everyone for bidding on my custom hand painted Skatedeck. Thanks to Rossignol for a matching donation!

Billy Shire is best known as the prodigious owner of The Soap Plant, Wacko and the La Luz de Jesus gallery, all in Los Angeles. A couple of years after graduating from Belmont High, Shire opened The Soap Plant where he sold hand-crafted soaps, unusual trinkets, and imported figurines from Mexico, thereby popularizing the art and culture of that country’s Day of the Dead festivals. Shire gained notoriety in 1973 when he won a design competition sponsored by Levi Strauss & Company. Shire’s gallery La Luz de Jesus, is one of the most important ground-breaking galleries in Los Angeles and has garnered a considerable reputation with collectors, galleries, and artists around the world.

Les Enfants TERRIBLES in France

Caia & Sheila at Lyon's Contemporary Art Biennale

There is a fantastic show going on right now in Lyon, France, it’s called Les Enfants TERRIBLES. Les Enfants TERRIBLES is part of Lyon’s Contemporary Art Biennale and introduces Pop Surrealism to a huge new audience, the main stream art world. Les Enfants TERRIBLES opened with a bang, speeches, introductions and many thanks to the owner of the magnificent and beautiful space The Rhone-Alpes Region, to the city of Lyon and to the curator extradinaire Jerome Catz, owner of Spacejunk Art Centers.I am incredibly honored to be part of this show that includes such a stellar group of artists. Les Enfants TERRIBLES showcases 12 artists from 4 continents including art by Robert Williams, Todd Schorr, Nicolas Thomas, Jeff Soto, Naoto Hattori, Joe Sorren, Odo, Reg Mombassa, Robert Crumb, Victor Castillo, Ray Caesar and myself.

Jerome organized a group mural which we painted live during the public opening on Sept 15th 2011. And, while most of the artists were busy inside on the mural, Jeff Soto risked getting soaked by the threat of rain to embark on his own project, Jeff chose a huge wall adjacent to the show to paint a massive eye candy, he finished a 30 ft long cat who now keeps two big bright eyes on the terrible babies long after we’ve gone home.The massive crowd wound down to just a steady stream of interested onlookers by the end of the weekend, this incredible show introducing Pop Surealism to the masses will be up through Dec. 31, 2011. So if you happen to get the chance to visit my new favorite city of Lyon take a peak inside The Rhone-Alpes Region.

My newest collaboration with Oakley has resulted in two pairs of fabulous shades, Fringe and Immerse. Both with my art on the arms and nice big styles, Fringe has a super cute 80′s flare and Immerse is a perfect fitting wrap around.
